AnythingIT, Inc. Facilitates Donation of over 30 Laptops from Single Event.

It’s heartwarming to know there are companies that exist where the employees are proud of the work they do. AnythingIT, located in Fair Lawn, NJ, not only helps keep electronic waste out of the landfills, but in partnership with Verizon, they contribute to U.S. Veteran’s futures through charitable donations. As a result, the atmosphere is cheerful and productive and the quality of their services reflects it.

AnythingIT is an electronic waste recycler that is focused on helping companies maximize their technology dollars by delivering cost effective, functional and real-time IT asset management solutions. They take all forms of electronic equipment from corporations, government agencies, resellers, and OEMs. Their approach is simple: they help companies with a systematic and structured plan to manage internal and external technology assets on an ongoing basis. From initial product reviews and physical inventory audits to budgeting, planning, reselling, recycling and analysis, AnythingIT is dedicated to increasing operational efficiency and resource savings. Services provided by the company include: data scrubbing, shredding, inventory management, repair and remarketing of equipment and recycling of parts and materials.  AnythingIT has been operating since 1992 and is a government contract holder who has achieved R2 (Responsible Recycling), ISO 14001 and 9001 certification, and e-Stewards, which is the highest environmentally responsible certification in the industry.

With a “zero-landfill policy”, AnythingIT ensures that the thousands of tons of electronic waste that passes through their warehouse are either data cleansed and re-sold, or recycled back into raw materials. The value of the equipment is often partially recouped and returned to the original owner, which offsets the cost of purchasing new equipment. Clients include Samsung, Fujitsu, and Verizon, U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as small local businesses and municipalities.

Inside their headquarters, AnythingIT has donated office space to Ted Knapp, Director of Environmental Compliance at Anything IT and Co-founder and President of Work Vessels for Veterans (WVFV), an all-volunteer movement assisting returning veterans to begin their civilian careers or educational pursuits by acquiring and distributing the necessary start-up tools. Founded with the gift of a fishing boat that began a commercial fishing career for a returning Iraq veteran, the foundation is expanding its outreach to other industries to assist our returning military. Another co-founder of Work Vessels for Veterans, Dave Mason, first found fame with the rock band Traffic. In his long career, Mason has played and recorded with many of the era’s most notable rock musicians, including Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Fleetwood Macand Cass Elliot.

On June 7, 2012 WVFV Ted Knapp and Dave Mason presented one of thirty-three laptops that were recently donated by AnythingIT and its client, Verizon, to Iraqi war veteran Sergeant Jeffrey Diana of New Milford, NJ. Jeffrey recently applied for the MBA program at Montclair State College and will be starting a new job at Robert Half Agency. According to Jeffrey, he had been making his own repairs on his outdated laptop. Recently, while trying to fix the keyboard, his old laptop became damaged beyond repair. Fifteen minutes later, Jeffrey received the call that he would be receiving a laptop from WVFV that was donated by Verizon. AnythingIT refurbished it to like-new condition and installed a new operating system for Jeffrey.

It’s easy to see why AnythingIT employees are proud of their work. Together with Verizon, they are helping the community, the environment, and Veterans achieve success.
