AnythingIT Releases Informative White Paper-Bring Your Own Device – Solutions for End of Life Recycling
AnythingIT, Inc. ( OTCBB : ANYI ), a leading information technology end of life recycler and E-Waste handler serving both government and commercial markets, today announced the release of a new white paper, BYOD EOL (Bring Your Own Device – Solutions for End of Life) to give corporate management and Information Technology (IT) providers details of solutions available for adopting both bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policies and end of life (EOL) recycling and secure disposal options.
Worldwide tablet shipments are expected to reach 60 million this year, estimates market research firm IHSiSuppli. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners says that 21 percent of the latest iPad devices are being used for work and business use of these devices has surpassed uses for social networking, email, and reading. Given those numbers, AnythingIT President David Bernstein became concerned that businesses adopting BYOD policies were faced with a lack of informational resources for both building secure policies for BYOD as well as intelligent policies for EOL management.
“We commissioned this informative white paper to help business leaders understand the benefits and unique issues behind bring-your-own-device policies,” says Bernstein. “Furthermore, once these devices have completed their life cycle or are to be pushed aside for an upgrade, businesses could face security issues as well as environmental concerns should those devices not be properly handled through a well-crafted end-of-life plan.”
With a recent Citrix survey showing 25 percent of enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses supporting the use of personal devices for business purpose but only 67 percent of them having policies in place, the need became clear. Several surveys show productivity increases when BYOD policies allow the use of personal devices, however, the growth trend towards adopting this idea is clear.
“With all of these concerns and the growing acceptance and adoption of BYOD in business,” says Bernstein, “AnythingIT believed that clear guidance to help solve not only the issues inherent in BYOD for businesses, but also the very critical EOL solutions was paramount. With most of the available information focusing on security rather than recycling, it became clear that AnythingIT was in a unique position to provide answers. Businesses can profit both financially from BYOD as well as in public relations with hosted collection events and recycling programs.”
The fact-filled paper from AnythingIT covers not only an overview of the BYOD and EOL issues involved for business, but details data security concerns and measures as well as green, eco-friendly EOL programs that not only bolster both corporate image and brand, but also encourage employees to recycle and even allow for philanthropy.
