AnythingIT And Samsung Electronics Enter 6th Year Of S.T.A.R US Toner Recycling Program

Team To Facilitate 3-5 Year State Of California Printer Refresh Contract With Printer And Toner Recycling Services

AnythingIT Inc., (OTCBB: ANYI), a leading information technology electronics recycler and e-waste handler serving both government and commercial markets for over 20 years, and Samsung Electronics America today announced they are entering the sixth consecutive year partnering on the Samsung Electronics Take-Back and Recycle (S.T.A.R.) US Toner Program.

This year marks an important milestone for the S.T.A.R. program as Samsung Electronics and reseller partner NWN Corporation were recently awarded the printer refresh and recycling services contract by the State of California’s Department of General Services.

The contract will provide State agencies with new, more energy efficient Samsung printers as well as the S.T.A.R. toner and printer recycling program in partnership with AnythingIT for the next three to five years. It is mandatory for State agencies and is available to all local governments, public educational institutions and special districts throughout California. The totals to be recycled could be up to tens of thousands of laser printers and hundreds of thousands of cartridges over the life of the contract.

“The S.T.A.R. program has been one of Samsung’s most successful customer support initiatives in the past five years, and has exhibited consistent and dramatic growth since its launch in 2007,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Samsung Electronics America’s Enterprise Business Division. “This voluntary and environmentally responsible recycling program has been enthusiastically embraced by Samsung printer owners, who appreciate the simplicity and convenience of using the U.S. Postal Service as a return logistics provider. AnythingIT has been an exceptionally supportive and reliable partner for Samsung in deploying and managing the S.T.A.R. program, meeting every performance benchmark we have set while insuring that our customers enjoy a world-class recycling experience.”

“At NWN our mission is to help our customers solve business problems through technology, and partnering with Samsung was the perfect solution,” said Matt Niemann, vice president of strategic contracts for NWN. “Samsung’s S.T.A.R. Program, in partnership with AnythingIT, not only met and exceeded California’s standards for technical, service and small business related issues, it has provided us with a partnership that will help solve business, economic and environmental issues for the entire State.”

The environmentally compliant S.T.A.R. Toner Recycling program will track the return of spent toner cartridges. Using a specially developed barcode which uniquely identifies every individual cartridge and a backend tracking system, Samsung will record and report to the State the returns of empty Samsung cartridges by individual State agencies and the total weight of the recycled and recovered materials (plastics, metals, cardboard, etc.) which will be reused to make new products. Under the S.T.A.R. program, Samsung and AnythingIT ensure environmentally responsible end-of-life management for empty toner cartridges and also laser printers that can no longer be used for their original intended purpose.
