What is cosmetic grading?

Grade A B C D is an industry-standard way to describe what to expect of a computer product in the recovery and resale markets. AnythingIT seeks to provide a fully transparent process to ensure confidence in the customer’s expectations of what to expect for recovery value.
Grading of Laptops, Desktops, computers, iPads, monitors, phones, and PC’s after years of use is an essential step in valuing your used computer equipment. The Grading of computers, desktops, laptops, iPad, monitors, and PC’s focus on the outward appearance like external surfaces (i.e. cover / lid and keyboards) housing, LCD/LCD blemishes. The method of grading computers, desktops, laptops, iPad, monitors, and PC’s are done by physically inspecting each item. As part of the AnythingIT audit, we will accurately describe the condition by assigning a Refurbished Grade A, B, C, D, so you will know what to expect on a recovery value.

Upon arrival of the computers desktops laptops Ipads monitors, phones, and PC’s at the processing centers, they should be graded strictly for quality. Words like new, very minor wear; Light/fine scratches on screen, large paint chips, large cracks on the body, loose/wobbly base, dark spots on the screen that exceed .5 inch in diameter, uneven light diffusion, are used during this process. Each unit will then be assigned a GRADE and sorted out for the best attributes.

  • A Grade: Almost Like New Condition

    • Mint – Like new condition
    • No scratches on the LCD
    • No dead pixels or white spots on the LCD
    • No scratches or dents on the case

  • B Grade: Great Used Condition

    • May have minor scratches or keyboard marks on the LCD not visible
      while in use
    • May have 1-2 dead pixels or white spots (blemish) on the LCD not
      immediately noticeable.
    • May have minor scratches on the case.
    • No major dents, dings, or bent corners.
    • May have lightly worn keys.

  • C Grade: Average Used Condition

    • May have a moderate to heavy scratches on the LCD.
    • May have dead pixels or white spots (blemishes) on the LCD.
    • May have moderate scratches on the case.
    • May have minor to moderate dents, dings, or bent corners that do not interfere with proper opening and closing of the LCD lid.
    • May have moderate worn keys.

  • D Grade: Poor Used Condition

    • Moderate to heavy scratches on the LCD, dead pixels or white spots (blemishes) on the LCD, major scratches, dents, bents on case and/or corners.
    • May have cracked / loose hinges.

    • No scratches on the LCD
    • No dead pixels or white spots (blemish) the LCD.

  • B Grade: Great Used Condition

    • May have minor scratches on the LCD not visible while in use or felt
      with finger nail.
    • May have 1-2 very minor dead pixels or white spots on the LCD not
      immediately noticeable.
    • May have minor scratches on the case.
    • No obvious dents, dings, or bent corners.

  • C Grade: Average Used Condition

    • May have moderate to heavy scratches on the LCD that are visible while in
      use or easily felt with your finger nail.
    • May have 1-2 obvious dead pixels or white spots (blemishes) on the LCD.
    • May have moderate to heavy scratches on the case.
    • May have noticeable minor to moderate case dents or dings that do not affect the proper seating of the digitizer. (Screen is not popped up)
    • May have a failed/dead battery
    • Visible Screen Burn

  • D Grade: Poor Used Condition

    • May have severe scratches on the LCD but not affecting the clarity of the
      camera.
    • May have 1-2 obvious dead pixels or white spots on the LCD/Burned Image
    • May have severe case scratches.
    • May have severe case dents or dings
    • May have minor lifted glass.
    • May have minor bent frame.
    • May have minor case cracks.

  • B Grade: Great Used Condition

    • May have minor scratches or keyboard marks on the LCD not visible
      while in use.
    • May have 1-2 dead pixels or white spots (blemish) on the LCD not
      immediately noticeable.
    • May have minor scratches on the case.
    • May have lightly worn keys.
    • Device is fully functional
    • Ac Adapter/Battery Included

  • C Grade: Average Used Condition

    • May have moderate scratches on the LCD.
    • May have moderate dead pixels or white spots (blemishes) on the LCD.
    • May have moderate scratches on the case.
    • May have moderate cracks in housing that do not affect functionality.
    • May have moderate worn keys / trackpad.
    • Device is fully functional
    • Ac Adapter/Battery Included

  • D Grade: Poor Used Condition

    • Heavy scratches on the LCD, dead pixels or white spots (blemishes) on the
      LCD
    • Major scratches, cracks, missing plastics
    • May have cracked / loose hinges.
    • Stains that are permanent including paint, stickers, and ink
    • Battery does not hold charge

  • A Grade: Almost Like New Condition

    Grade A PCs will have no deep scratches, cracks, paint chips, or broken/missing pieces. (like new condition)

  • B Grade: Great Used Condition

    Grade B PCs are fully tested and fully functional but subject to have: light scratches on external body and may feature more excessive unit housing and/or external case wear than Grade A units, including wear on case / lid. Grade B PCs may feature one or several small dings or dents on covers and / or small paint chips on the surface.

  • C Grade: Average Used Condition

    Grade C PCs are subject to have multiple scratches, large areas of paint missing, severe dents and may feature brokenhinges / latches

  • D Grade: Poor Used Condition

    Grade D Products are defective Non- Working or Cosmetically flawed beyond repair. Units are to be used for parts only. These units can never be returned.
